Blood Pressure Checker

90/60 blood pressure

90/60 is at the lower boundary used by this checker, not below it. It falls in the UK healthy and US normal chart bands.

What do the two numbers mean?

90 is systolic pressure, measured when the heart contracts. 60 is diastolic pressure, measured between beats. Both are in millimetres of mercury (mmHg).

Why these labels?

The boundary matters: this checker marks a reading as low when systolic is below 90 or diastolic is below 60, unless a higher category takes precedence. Exactly 90/60 does not cross either boundary. The NHS describes low blood pressure as less than 90/60 mmHg.

The healthy chart label only describes the numerical band. It does not establish whether this reading is usual for a particular person, and 90/60 alone does not identify a cause or a condition.

Clinic readings and home averages

90/60 is below NICE's home-average threshold for high blood pressure. That high-pressure threshold is separate from the lower boundary discussed here.

These categories describe a number pair, not a diagnosis or an individual treatment target. A single reading is not the same as a pattern or an average.
